There’s just something about a wedding at Thaba Eco Hotel that hits differently. Maybe it’s the blend of luxury and nature, maybe it’s the sweeping views over Johannesburg South, or maybe (okay, definitely) it’s the way this couple brought all the love, light, and laughter with them.

Their day was the perfect balance of elegant and down-to-earth — kind of like Thaba itself. Set against the backdrop of open skies, wild hills, and modern architecture, this wedding was full of sunshine and soul from beginning to end.

The Setting

Thaba Eco Hotel is a gem tucked away in JHB South. It somehow feels miles away from the city, even though it’s just around the corner. Surrounded by nature, drenched in golden light, and filled with calm — it’s the kind of place where love stories feel right at home.

The Ceremony

Held on a sun-drenched patio overlooking the reserve, the ceremony was emotional, joyful, and very real. The wind rustled gently through the trees, as if even nature wanted to be part of their vows. Every glance, every tear, every laugh — it was all there, and it was beautiful.

The Portraits

We snuck away into the reserve just before sunset, and that golden light did its thing. Open spaces, long shadows, a few stolen kisses… Thaba gave us the perfect canvas. Whether we were shooting wide landscapes or close-up candid moments, the love came through in every frame.

The People

I always say the people make the day — and wow, did this crew deliver. From the bride’s radiant energy to the groom’s nerves that melted into pure joy, to the bridal party who hyped up every moment — it was warm, heartfelt, and full of personality.

Why I Love Thaba Eco Hotel

As a Johannesburg wedding photographer, I’ve shot all over the city — but Thaba always stands out. It’s peaceful without feeling remote, classy without being stiff, and designed in a way that makes photos sing. Whether it’s the rooftop views, the greenery, or the way the light wraps around the venue in the afternoon, it’s pure magic.
